OECS Championships 3rd place for SVG

The 13 member St. Vincent and the Grenadines team finished 3rd  at the OECS Championships in St. Kitts & Nevis with 134 points, bagging 10 medals in the process.

The games, held at the Kim Collins National Stadium in Basseterre, on July 4th & 5th, saw SVG come away with 2 golds, 6 silvers and 2 bronze medals.

 

The gold medals came from men’s National Triple Jump Champion, Romaul James, who won the event with a distance of 15.16m, and Kesian John in the women’s 800m, in a personal best 2:23.27s.

 

Silver medals were secured by National U20 Triple Jump record holder, J’aivar Cato in the men’s Triple Jump with 14.92m completing a quinella in the event, with James also taking a silver in the Men’s Long Jump. U.S based Brinesha Derrick-Bain was 2nd in the women’s 100m Hurdles in 13.91s, and 800m specialist Handal Roban, stepped down to the one lap race, where he was second in 46.59s. Kesian John added a Women’s Long Jump silver to her 800m gold, with a distance of 4.80m and the team of Jmar Saunders, Kyle Lawrence, Ajay Delpesche and Keo Davis was 2nd in the men’s 4x100m relay in 40.07s.

 

Bronze medals were won by U20 record holder, Reine Browne in the women’s 100m Hurdles in 14.32s, and 2025 men’s 100m champion, McKish Compton, in the men’s 100m in 10.41s.

 

The rest of the performances saw Teia Laborde placing 4th in the women’s 200 and 6th in the 100m, Zekisha Kelly was 7th in both the women’s 200m and 400m, Ajay Delpesche was 6th in the men’s 200m and Kelly, Davis, Laborde and Delpesche teamed up for the Mixed 4x400m relay, where they placed 4th.
