The World's Most Challenging 10K
Sunday, November 29th will see the staging of the 2020 edition of the NACAC Chatoyer Endurance 10k. Dubbed “The world’s most challenging 10k”, the race traverses the mountainous terrain of the western coast of the island. It begins in Gordon Yard, descending into Spring Village, then across the only flat portion of the race in Cumberland. From there runners have to contend with steep hills going up and down through Coull’s Hill, Troumaca, Rose Bank and Petit Bordel, before at the Sharpes Playing Field in Chateaubelair.
The race has consistently seen participation from neighbouring countries like St. Lucia, Grenada and Barbados, as well as Guyana and Jamaica, and even as far as Kenya. St. Vincent & the Grenadines has won the men’s and women’s titles of the event for the past 3 years, in the persons of Junior “Stone” Ashton and Linda McDowald.
The race is run in 3 categories: Under-20, Open and International.
