Observing Easter 2020

Dear Friends

Team Athletics St Vincent and the Grenadines (TASVG) joins the Christian world in celebrating Easter, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

Today, we once more give thanks to Almighty God for the gift of His Son to us as a sacrifice for our salvation. In the midst of the current COVID-19 pandemic, we have much to be thankful for in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Things could have been much worse than it is currently and may still be so, but for now, we must give thanks for having been spared the ravages we are seeing elsewhere in the world.

Today we have an opportunity to be with our families at home, sharing each other’s company. It is an opportunity for us to reflect on all that has brought us together and give thanks. It is an opportunity for us to re-dedicate ourselves to each other as family members and re-commit to doing better in the future to be there for each other and build our families.

Finally, as the athletics family in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, let us re-commit to the cause of developing our sport as a collective. Our athletes rely on our coaches, technical officials, administrators and volunteers for their success. We can and must be there for them all of the time.

While the rest of the season appears to be brought to an abrupt halt, we must work with our athletes, encouraging them to continue to balance their physical fitness with their academic studies and to eagerly look forward to success in both critical areas.

On this Easter we ask God’s blessings on our athletes and hope and pray that they and their families continue to be safe.

Today too, Easter Sunday, TASVG calls on all our stakeholders to heed the advice of our medical fraternity and adhere to the established protocols aimed at enhancing our capacity to defeat COVID-19.
